Raphaël Weuts

I am an AI Engineer, conducting research on AI Law. Additionally, I am lead AI Governance advisor at multiple organizations focused on evidence-based healthcare guidelines for Belgian healthcare workers. I worked with various research institutions and have contributed to shaping the EU AI Act. I have a background in Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Computer Science, AI regulation and AI ethics. I have been the program director for the Applied AI postgraduate program in Brussels, was visiting professor of AI Applications at UCLL in Leuven and taught courses on AI, often during the inaugural year of the respective educational programs. My alma mater is KU Leuven, but I did research on AI at multiple institutions in Leuven and Brussels and contributed to various academic gatherings organized by institutions of multiple countries. My research interests include AI Law, ethical AI applications in healthcare and governance of AI agents.

Talks on AI Regulation or AI Applications

IDEATION & INSIGHT

Gain valuable insights through engaging in-person or online talks about AI regulation and its implications or explore AI applications tailored to your sector. These talks are ideal for organisations who wish to understand how AI can transform their field, including the latest innovation, compliance challenges, and the opportunities AI presents.

Delivered by an expert with deep knowledge of both AI technology and the evolving legal landscape, these sessions are designed to inspire and inform.

AI Co-Creation Seminars

POC & EDUCATION

Organise hands-on co-creation seminars to identify and address your organisation's AI use cases. These seminars feature multiple in-person sessions, combining education with collaborative innovation.

The approach involves a mix of seminars, POC's applied to your organisation, and co-creation to leverage your team's expertise alongside advanced AI tools. Sessions can include platform comparisons, prompt engineering techniques, and identification of strategic focus areas.

The outcome can be a customized AI solution and/or a strategic roadmap that aligns with your organisational goals, delivered through a mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities to maximize not only the educational aspect, but also the creation of a shared vision and concrete business impact.

AI project architect

OPERATIONS & EVALUATION

As your AI Architect, I manage the interplay between key players in your AI journey: AI labs developing models, solution providers offering PaaS or on-premise hardware, IT consultants implementing the solution, and the end users within your organization.

I design your system architecture in collaboration with all stakeholders, ensuring each element aligns with the needs of your organisation. Throughout implementation, I serve as the guiding conductor, harmonizing efforts to deliver an efficient and effective AI solution.

International AI Governance collaboration

TECH READINESS

I have the honor to act as European representative in the Asia-Europe for AI Network AI Governance working group. The network manages the creation of a Eurasian research centre on AI Governance, is working on a whitepaper on AI Governance for higher education institutions and is setting up a train the trainer program on AI Governance.
